Over the past twelve years, my focus has shifted from development to the intersection of technology, people and processes. Project value stems from derived business value, often best measured by profitability. Elegant code, prescriptive project management methodologies and/or best practices cannot guarantee success.

My experience working at large, world class companies and smaller, fast growing businesses, in varied geographical and cultural settings, has given me a unique perspective and insight into understanding and architecting success. There is no silver bullet. Success comes by understanding the business domain, the people and relationships involved and crafting technology into a complete project solution.

Success cannot be achieved by applying the same tactics to all problems. People work differently across departments, cities, states, countries and continents. Problems change as companies grow bigger; processes and systems fail to scale. Furthermore problems differ across industries; the problem domain of finance has few similarities to Healthcare. There is no single answer.

If you are seeking someone who is innovative, understands business, people, project management while having retained deep technical skills, consider me.

- For 9 years, I have managed projects in very large enterprises as well as a fast growing start-up.

- For 12 years, I have developed in various languages and systems while applying best practices.

- For 10 years, I have consulted across the United States and Europe, managing people locally and abroad. I have worked with WIPRO, outsourcing development to Southern India (Hyderbad) for Merck.

- For 8 years, I have architected systems for complex Healthcare domains using processes like Domain Driven Design.

- For the past 4 years, I have led the technical efforts for a fast growing mail order pharmacy start-up (business unit).

- Most recently I am directing research and development efforts for C7 at Vanguard Health.

I excel in dynamic situations. I bring order to chaos, innovative solutions to difficult problems and calm resolve to risky projects. I work hard, refuse to fail and take personal responsibility for the outcomes of all my ventures.

OBJECTIVE:

Architect, develop and manage projects that impact a company’s bottom line using methodologies that eliminate waste, increase quality and drive down overall, long term cost.

    Hi Allan,

I got your information off a search on the web. I am currently conducting a search in the Nashville TN area for two Java architects. I was hoping to see if you might be interested or if you could forward on my information to some of your collogues and see if they might be interested or if they might know of someone. I know you have been doing architecture work more recently with .net but wanted to tap your network of contacts. We do offer a $500 a referral fee.

My client is looking to build out an E-commerce platform using IBM Websphere Commerce and utilizing an SOA Framework. This would be a great opportunity to get into an SOA implementation in the beginning stages. Hopefully we can help each other out. Thanks for your time.
